Acesur originates from the company Aceites y Jabones Luca de Tena in 1840, being the oldest Spanish edible oil company. The La Española is named in honour of the island of La Española, currently the Dominican Republic, the place where Hernando, son of Christopher Columbus, began exporting olive oil to America in the sixteenth century.

This year is the 175th anniversary, which La Española is celebrating by parading the name of Spain through more than 100 countries, leading some 20 markets and with a commitment to internationalization that has led it to open offices in the United States, Brazil, China, the Baltic countries and the Czech Republic.

La Española combines tradition and innovation. This cutting edge nature of the brand has led it to offer a wide range of enriched and nutritional oils on the market. Work on RDI is also aimed at achieving the most sustainable process possible, La Española being the first company to measure and report the carbon footprint of its products.
